The Great Texas Balloon race began in 1978 with just a few balloon helping to celebrate the opening of the Longview Mall. It has grown over the years to be considered by world-class balloon pilots to be a premier competitive event. There is nothing in Texas that matches the excellence of this event. Many try but none attain it.
